OA/OSC submissions: AMC&GM Dec’22 updated requirements. CAA Reminder.

The CAA issued a reminder on the updated Acceptable Means of Compliance and Guidance Materials, and the requirements of CAP722A when drafting the OSC volume 1-3 and Appendix A. 

Applications not submitted under this format will be placed on hold. 

A sign that updating OSCs in accordance with updated requirements needs work and preparation, and the transitional grace period is over.

The latest edition of  Drone FEEDBACK Edition 7, has been released and it sheds light on some significant occurrences related to Human Factors and Just Culture. The newsletter reports incidents like the collision of an Emergency Services Drone with a Cessna 172 aircraft during final approach to an aerodrome and a 28kg Drone that was filming at the Henley Regatta but ran out of battery, dropped vertically and narrowly missed passengers on a boat. These incidents highlight the crucial role of Human Factors in drone operations and the need for a Just Culture approach in dealing with such occurrences.

Drone Enable 2023 – ICAO’s UAS Industry Symposium

DRONE ENABLE 2023 is ICAO’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems Industry Symposium with the theme “Innovation and infrastructure developments supporting the future of unmanned aviation“.

The symposium will take place in Montréal, Canada from 5 to 7 December 2023, bringing together key stakeholders from the unmanned aviation sector to exchange research, best practices, and challenges.

The deadline for speaker submissions in response to this year’s Request for Information (RFI) is 19 May 2023. The symposium provides an opportunity for networking, collaboration, and coordination among civil aviation authorities, industry, and stakeholders in the dynamic field of unmanned aviation. Participants are encouraged to monitor the website for further details and opportunities.
