Gatwick closed for 55min on May 14 – “No drones found” (BBC). Awaiting official confirmation. Much improved response time.

Gatwick Airport was closed for 55 minutes on Sunday May 14, following reports of drone sighting near the airport. We were in contact with the NPCC and the CAA on this matter. The police led the response, and the new process put in place since 2018 really improved the response time, considering the airport was closed for 55 minutes and not a couple of days.

Gatwick Airport is equipped with a set of Counter-UAV technologies, therefore this time the investigation should benefit from facts and data, which could lead to affirmative conclusions, whether it is a confirmation or not of drone sightings.

Gatwick Airport has not yet officially communicated, but the BBC communicated late May 15, 2023 that no drones had been found yet. An investigation will take place no doubt, let’s check the outcome.
