Flyer ID first came into effect in November 2019. For those people who registered between November and the end of December 2019, the Flyer ID was valid for three years. This means that these people are now due to renew their Flyer ID.
Fortunately the renewal will last five years. To check when your renewal is due, visit the My Registration in the Drones & Model Aircraft section of the CAA website.
While renewing your Flyer ID, you will notice that a number of questions refer to class-marked drones C0, C1, C2 etc. That bank of questions will soon be amended, and we’d recommend that you check again the Drone Code in 2023 because it will likely be amended. Indeed, the Department of Transport announced last week its formal decision to extend the transition period to 1 January 2026, and its intention to change the UK regulations so that European Union (EU) class marks on drones will not be recognised in the UK after 1 January 2023 – even if they are commercially available.
